Orchid Show at Como Park 2010

Every year during winter carnival the Orchid Society of Minnesota hosts an orchid show at the Como Park Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. I posted 50 orchid photos on my Picasa web albums site. Click on the slidshow to access “full screen” viewing options.

Anyone know where this statue went?

Sculpture from Como Park conservatoryThis sculpture is one of my favorites. It was put in storage when the old fern room was demolished. I wonder where it is. I would like to see it again.

Orchid Show 2004

spicernium appletoniumEvery year during winter carnival the Orchid Society of Minnesota hosts an orchid show at the Como Park Marjorie McNeely Conservatory. They also have a web page with links to useful orchid information.

My favorite orchid was one that looked like and alien. I think it is a paph spicernium appletonium. I thought this was cool because Appleton is my home town.

Como Park Conservatory visit

I love shooting photos at Como Park. My cameras have evolved from a 2 megapixel Canon S100 to a 3 megapixel Canon A70, and now I have a 7 megapixel Panasonic Lumix FX3. I will be displaying pictures from each once I figure out how to easily insert them into this website.

Photos from the spring flower show

I always look forward to the Spring flower show. A flower called rununculus was my favorite although the foxgloves were really showy, too.

I know someone who is trying to grow rununculus outdoors this summer. If she has any luck, I think I would like to try, too.
